Saturday 13th September was certainly the place to be at the Holbeach Rock 'n' Roll club. The night saw a superb turnout with the dance floor swingin' to the sounds of our resident D.J. Krazy Legs (name changed to Chris B) and our headlining band, the fantastic ROCKET 88!!!!!
The band played two outstanding rockin' sets with members of the band even taking to the dance floor to join all you cool cats and crazy kittens!
With cool sounds from the 50's there wasn't one song that didn't get the place jumpin', jivin', swingin' and strollin'!!!!!!!
We would like to thank ROCKET 88 for an exceptional night and would certainly hope to see them again soon at the club!

Five stars In Holbeach, By Adrian Nind
A change in job now finds me working in the Fens in Lincolnshire. So I was delighted when a work colleague told me of a new club that had opened at the Holbeach United Sports & social Club, in Park Road Holbeach. Club night takes place every Tuesday from 7.30pm until 10pm. So with the irresistable offer of good time Rock 'n' Roll plus a cheap pint, myself and partner Angie went along to take a look.
We were soon spotted by committee member Dave Caller & wife Carron who made us so welcome it reminded me of the great hospitality we used to get from Barry & Jo at the much missed 'Sounds That Swing' club in Gorelston.
Before long other committee members had also introduced themselves, Arthur & Gerry Whyatt. Several chats later and I'd got the message that here was a group of people with a determination to ensure that the good folk of Holbeach had a chance to enjoy the sounds of 1950's Rock 'n' Roll and the opportunity to learn to jive. After seven weeks they now have a membership of approximately 40, which grows every week. Not only keen to promote their own club they were also the perfect ambassadors of other local clubs
The one thing that struck me most was the wide range of people at the event. Yes there were people from the scene- including a couple of Rockabillies who just blew me away with their jiving ( I'm not even that good in my dreams!) Also, a lot of folk not familiar with the scene- just keen to learn how to jive. And thats where this club makes a big hit, there are no big time 'charlies' posing here, just a group of Rock 'n' Roll fans with a love of music and dance.
Music was provided by club DJ. Krazy Legs who played a cocktail of sounds, ensuring everyone was catered for, with slow tempo numbers for beginers mixed with upbeat numbers for the more experienced and a slice of Cavan on the side!
Both Angie & I will be heading back to the club soon. there are also some Saturday nights planned, the next being the 10th May. details can be found at www.holbeachrocknroll.co.uk
We hope you will all agree that this was a fantastic write up for the Club!
We welcome any feedback, good or bad so we can improve the club for everyone, so that the dancing can continue for a long time to come. Thanks Adrian for this wonderful write up, you will always get a warm welcome when you visit.
